About Me

Hello! My name is Megan Murillo and I am a recent graduate of the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in photography with a minor in art history. I live in the DFW area of Texas with my fiancé, Gabe and our pet cockatiel, Cloud. My work showcases a variety of different themes from normal everyday portraits to dealing with the heavy topic of my own depression. My themes generally revolve around how I’m feeling that day, or something I’m currently inspired by. I find inspiration in everyday things like movies, TV shows and videogames.

Artist Statement

Photography is my primary medium, however I still enjoy working with various other mediums and practices. I tend to stick to my DSLR for my work but I also greatly enjoy film photography and prefer to do the whole developing and printing process myself. I pull inspiration from multiple other media such as movies, video games, and music. I like to take inspiration from fellow photographers, my biggest inspiration being Brandon Woelfel. I don’t typically have a set theme in all of my works, I tend to create work based on how I’m feeling, or have been feeling lately, as well as some things I’ve been inspired by recently. My subjects also vary greatly from friends, family, pets, strangers and myself.
